The SonTek-SL Current Meter is a simple way to measure water velocity and level in open channels. SonTek-SL has earned acceptance worldwide as a long-term monitoring solution for these applications. The Current Meter is designed specifically for side mounting on bridges, canal walls, or riverbanks as the SL’s sleek profile makes housing easier.


The SL1500 (3G) is the most versatile system available in the current meter range with slimmed-down design and SmartPulse HD®. High-quality data can be collected in the horizontal profile with a range of 0.2m to 20m (0.7 to 66ft). This is ideal for:



  • Rivers, streams, water delivery canals, irrigation canals and laterals

  • In very slow (or no flow) and reversing conditions

  • Hydropower, stormwater, and municipal sites that require easy access
