RiverSurveyor
The award-winning RiverSurveyor® systems give a new perspective on how to measure open channel hydraulics. When used with SonTek’s SmartPulseHD®, multiple acoustic frequencies can be fused with precise bandwidth control for the most robust and continuous shallow-to-deep discharge measurements ever. This deterministic microcontroller expertly apportions the proper acoustics, pulse scheme, and cell size to get the highest definition possible to allow you to focus on the measurement and not the instrument setup. The system even has a vertical beam for precise channel definition and has been designed to work intuitively. The SmartPulse HD shows you the clearest velocity picture possible with cell sizes of down to 2cm.
The RiverSurveyor S5/M9 systems have been improved by the engineers that designed them want to build on the award-winning technology by adding features such as:
- No tagline/tape measure required: With RiverSurveyor Stationary Live, you can automatically measure distance between stations with DGPS or RTK GPS equipped systems
- Manual configuration: You can set the blanking distance, cell size, and number of cells moving for boat measurements
- Real-time QA/QC warnings: Warns of the possible problems before there is one
- Zipped files: New and improved compression and auto-decompression, providing faster access to large amounts of data
- Sample filter: Remove your random velocity outliers with ease

Benefits
- The highest resolution can be balanced with great depths
- Superior channel definition, extends the maximum measurable discharge depth
- An intelligent algorithm that looks at water depth, velocity, and turbulence
- Can acoustically adapt to conditions using pulse-coherent, broadband, and incoherent techniques
- High-definition images of cell sizes down to 2 cm
- All discharge computations are done within the S5 or M9 unit internally meaning no lost data from communications dropouts
- Compensates for vessel motion due to surface conditions
- High ping rates ensure extremely robust data collection
- High precision vessel tracking and depth measurement without GPS requirement
- Ultra-precise earth-referenced positioning as an alternative to bottom tracking in moving bed or other difficult situations
