Viscosity

Viscosity is a principal parameter when any flow measurements of fluids, such as liquids, semi-solids, gases and even solids are made. Viscosity measurements are made in conjunction with product quality and efficiency. Many manufacturers consider viscometers to be a crucial part of their research, development, and process control programs. They know that viscosity measurements are often the quickest, most accurate, and most reliable way to analyse some of the most important factors affecting product performance.

There are many different techniques for measuring viscosity, each suitable to specific circumstances and materials. Choosing the right instrument from the scores of instruments available to meet the need of any application is a difficult proposition. Today's instruments vary from the simple to the complex: from counting the seconds for a liquid to drain off a stick to very sophisticated automatic recording and controlling equipment. Here at Lab Unlimited, we have a wide range of instruments available to suit your needs along as well as having the expertise to answer any questions you may have.

Instruments for Viscosity Measurements are available in the following formats:

- Controlled Shear Rate (CSR): selecting a speed

- Controlled Shear Stress (CSS): selecting a force/area

- Relative Measuring Systems: Standard - Spindles, Vane-Spindles, Helipath-System

- Absolute Measuring Systems: Coaxial Cylinder, Cone/Plate, Plate/Plate, Spiral-Adapter

- Viscosity Range: 0.5 to 1,000,000,000 mPa.s

- Temperature Range:to 300°C

- Shear Rate:01 to 13,333 1/s

Is Your Viscometer 21 CFR Part 11 Compliant?

Viscometers are a crucial part of research, development, and process control programs. Especially in some industries, like pharmaceuticals or cosmetics, where being able to have full traceability of your processes is so important.

The Ametek Brookfield Touch Screen Viscometers and Rheometers (example: DV2T, certain models of DVNext, RSO and RSX) are 21 CFR Part 11 Compliant. Also, having a 21 CFR Part 11 Compliant Viscometer and Software package can make your life much easier.

Additional Services We Offer:

Technical Support

Here at Lab Unlimited we are the only company in Ireland who can calibrate your Brookfield viscometer to manufacturer specifications, providing the most accurate and fully traceable calibration.

Preventative Maintenance and Calibration is not simply cleaning down an instrument followed by a check with a Calibration Standard. We verify the instrument 'As found' and then routinely change instrument wearing parts during the PM / repair. The uniqueness in our service is that the Instrument is adjusted into tolerance and 'Tuned' to a Brookfield Certified Master Viscometer.
