DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer

DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer

The DVNext Wells-Brookfield Cone/Plate Rheometer, now featuring an easy-to-change magnetic cone/plate, is a sophisticated tool designed for accurately measuring the absolute viscosity of fluids in small sample volumes. Its precise cone and plate geometry enables researchers to generate comprehensive rheological data with ease.

DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer

Key Features of DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer:

- Measures absolute viscosity with just 0.5–2.0 mL samples.
- Provides precise shear rates for accurate flow curve analysis.
- Rapid temperature control due to the small sample size.
- Magnetic coupling for easy spindle attachment and removal.
- Electronic gap adjustment for faster setup and higher throughput.
- Touchscreen display available on DVNext models.
- Auto-zero function for precise torque measurement.
- Auto-range function to define full-scale range (FSR) across spindle/speed combinations.
- Torque measurement accuracy: 1% of full-scale range.
- Repeatability: 0.2% of full-scale range.

DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer Operation:

The DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer operates as a precise torque meter driven at specific rotational speeds. The torque measuring system, using a calibrated beryllium-copper spring, detects the resistance to rotation caused by the fluid sample between the cone and a stationary plate. This resistance is proportional to the shear stress in the fluid, allowing easy conversion to absolute viscosity (mPa·s) using pre-calculated charts or geometric constants.

Calibration is simple, requiring no external gauges. The sample cup, which forms the base of the stationary plate, can be easily removed, filled, and replaced without affecting calibration. The cup holds 0.5 to 2.0 mL of fluid and is jacketed for connection to a temperature-controlled bath. The system offers accuracy within ±1.0% of full-scale range and reproducibility within ±0.2%, operating efficiently between 0°C and 100°C.

Versatility and Application:

The DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer supports a wide range of shear rates and viscosity measurements, which can be extended with interchangeable cone spindles. Various models are available to meet specific viscosity and shear rate needs, with shear rates up to 1875 sec-1 achievable. The small sample volume required makes it ideal for testing limited-availability materials, such as biological fluids and high-value coatings. The instrument's wetted parts are made of stainless steel for corrosion resistance and easy cleaning, with an optional embedded temperature probe available.

Enhanced Gap Setting:

The DVNext Cone/Plate Rheometer is equipped with an advanced Electronic Gap Setting feature, allowing for quick and precise setup. This system minimizes the potential for errors, making gap adjustments straightforward with just a turn of the micrometre adjustment ring. This feature is standard, ensuring accurate shear profiles for precise viscosity and rheological data collection.
